Sony BDP-S570 3D Blue Ray Player - How Good Is It?

The whole Blue Ray thing, just used to confuse me, it took me long enough to get used to an ordinary DVD player. Anyway, my DVD player was on its last legs, so I decided to look around for a new one. When I was in the store, the sales lady told me, that it was probably best for me to get a Blue Ray player. She went through all the features with me and it looked good. I didn't get one, then and there though.

I eventually got my one, from Amazon. I went for the BDP S570 which is made by Sony. I chose Sony because, my previous DVD player was Sony, and I am a fan of the Sony brand. Most of my electrical equipment throughout the years has been from Sony.

Anyway, enough of the long drawn explanation as to why I ended up going for the Sony BDP S570, the bottom line is, I love it and I don't think I am going to be getting any other Blue Ray player for a long time now.

BDP S570: The Design

I am a lover of sleek looking electrical equipment, I would not say I am a technology freak or anything like that. However; I want my electrics to fit in with my modern décor. I live in a new build apartment block, and everything is pretty minimalist. Therefore I want something that looks simple, sleek and with no fuss.

The BDP S570 is just that, my one is, a kind of off black and it has a brushed metal finish. I think they have silver, I am not sure, but I prefer black, it is a slimline design, however; I think that eventually it will probably be made even more sleek. I remember the first video players were chunky, then they slimmed down, and the same with the DVD players.

I like the remote control, again, nice and sleek and the buttons are not too crowded, which can be annoying. Especially for people with large hands. I have small hands so it is not a problem for me.

Loading times: good or bad?

One thing, I was very concerned with was how fast the BDP-S570 loads. The first film I watched on there was, a Star Trek movie that a friend gave to me to test out. I was actually shocked at how quick it loaded up. I was half expecting to see that annoying message on the screen, saying loading disc. It was so quick it was actually almost as quick as lightening.

I already began to see the benefit of BlueRay over the ordinary DVD player. You see, if you don't like watching all the movie trailers that come on before the actual film you want to watch. Well all you have to do is, press a button on the remote which is the menu button, and it just fast forwards everything and just gets straight to the film. I love this feature because it puts the icing on the cake, when it comes to the excellent loading speed.

What I love about the Sony BDP-S570

The BDP-S570 is fantastic, well so far anyway. I really love the fact that, you can actually open the disc draw and close it using the remote. The older model of this player, I know for a fact did not have this function. I know a lot of DVD players don't have this function too. You will find you have to get up, to press open or close. Which to be honest can be very annoying.

When it comes to setting up the BDP S570 Sony, it was so easy it is unbelievable. So easy, it is basically automatic set up. You plug it in to your TV and the menu options are so straightforward it is ridiculous. When they say automatic set-up, they mean automatic set-up.

The BDP-S570 picture quality

Blue Ray really does increase the picture quality, makes your movies look much more like cinema quality, than a grainy low grade version of the cinematic version. I love my new Blue Ray player, and I don't think I am going to be sending it back or looking to get a new one for a long while now! I love it! To be honest I am not a major tech buff, however; I really enjoy getting to know the features on this new BDP-S570. If the whole picture quality thing was not enough, it actually has 3D capabilities. Therefore when all the updates are available for it, I will be able to watch 3D movies with my BlueRay player. I am so excited! I just love this.

Who is it for?

I think this kind of player would be perfect for families with young children. Not to say it wouldn't be good for the single male technology buff, however; I think that it would be so great for children's movies, especially all the more recent modern movies with fab animation and graphics. Blue Ray is perfect for this, I personally think most people would love the BDP S570.

Where can you get your hands on a BDP S570?

I got mine from Amazon for $199. They are selling them, used from $140 and upwards. You could probably even get one on eBay, or you could try your luck at an electrical store, however I've grown too fond of Amazon's convenience, low price and free shipping to go anywhere else.
